Pole Dancing Lessons in Oakville

"Let's Get You On The Pole"

"Let's Get You On The Pole"

Hi there!

I know what you are probably thinking "A pic of Jane in regular clothing and she is NOT on a pole!"
Last night, I attended a fancy soiree in Toronto and I wore my favourite dress.. it had pockets!
Whenever I go to networking events, the typical question I receive is "what do you do for a living?".

When your performance doesn’t go according to plan ~

Last night, I had the honour of performing with A Lyrical Affair at Burlington Performing Arts Centre.  This cabaret show was a mix of singing, dance and celebrating their 10 years of this singing duo. I had a blast, loved it AND learned a valuable lesson…

A Gold Winning Weekend At 2018 Canada East Pole Sport Championship

A Gold Winning Weekend At 2018 Canada East Pole Sport Championship

What a weekend! Holy smokes! Laura, Yomna and Christine wow'd the audience and brought home FIRST PLACE medals from their divisions! Hard work and consistent training paid off!

These two pole videos shaped my pole career...

These two pole videos shaped my pole career...

In between pole classes, I would turn to youtube for inspiration and dream of becoming a strong pole performer. I could invert and climb to a sit. I was hooked!

I would watch these two videos - over and over again - dissecting the moves. In all honesty, the sequence of moves are simple compared to the pole moves now…

Results from this weekend's Canadian Pole Fitness Associations: Toronto Pro Supershow - Pole Competition

It was a BIG weekend for PoleFit Nation at Canadian Pole Fitness Association - Toronto Pro Pole Supershow Competition.

Here are the results:

Christine and Elena were outstanding on the stage.
Elena's performance was strong and powerful. She has grown so much as a pole performer - this was her first ever pole performance!
Christine placed third in the Entry division - performed a clean, solid and confident performance.  Well done!

I won my Division.. had so much fun on stage and happy to retire from Pole Competition (I've been competing since 2013) on a high. Very grateful for all our students and PFN Instructors support.

Pole Training Care Tips: Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself

Pole Training Care Tips: Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself

Today, I want to share with you my top three fave tips on pole self care.

I have been poling for 10 years and have only minor injuries. The worst was last year, when I pulled my pectoral muscle.. yes, I pulled my boob. Thank heavens, I didn't rip it.. it was just a minor pull.

I was cramming for a competition (by the way, never cram for a comp!). I was pushing my body too much and ended up having to take 3 weeks off of pole.

Out of 10 years, one minor injury is not that bad.

I do take care of myself, and here are my go tos for staying injury free:

When you feel like a badass..

When you feel like a badass..

Meet Karol Helms..

She is one of my pole heroes - one of the people who I look up to in this industry.
She is a legend.
And... most likely you have learned a move or two indirectly from her.
Karol has been pole dancing for 16 years, and she has made major contributions to our industry - especially our studio.

And - she is a total badass!

Do you view yourself as an Athlete?

Do you view yourself as an Athlete?

When I was in my late 20s, I lived a sedentary life. My day to day consisted of work, returning home to collapse on the couch and vegging out until bedtime.

Rise repeat until the weekend.

If you were to ask me then "are you an athlete?" I would have laughed and said "My athletic days are gone."

Are you surviving or thriving?

Are you surviving or thriving?

This is an image of myself and my children (Matthew in orange, Brendan in yellow) back in 2006.

Whenever I see this pic, first I think to myself "damn those boys were cute!"

And then I think "you were so unhappy."

To My Fellow Lovers Of Pole

To my fellow lovers of pole dance.. pole fitness.. pole.. you know what I mean.

Boldly be you.
No matter what.
Be you!

There will always be someone standing there with judgement.
It's an inevitability.

You can not please everyone.

And trust me.. you wouldn't be true to yourself, if you were trying to make a person or a group understand or accept.

Dance happy.
Dance proud.

Welcoming Chris Gismondi to our team of instructors!

We are super thrilled to welcome Chris Gismondi to our studio! Chris brings a wealth of information and pole skills to share with our community.  He has been poling for 2 years, started in Montreal and visited our studio over the summer.

A student at McGill University, Chris is also a resident of Oakville.

1. Why did you start pole dancing for fitness?

"I began as a self taught yoga enthusiast and runner as a teen when I was unhappy with my body image. I took matters int o my own hands and tried to adopt a more healthy lifestyle. I took my first pole class in university and I was absolutely hooked from my first spin! It was such a fun and exciting workout I completely forgot I was exercising. Four years later, many bruises and pole kisses later I will hang off of any street pole or tree branch I can find!"

2. A Day In The Life...

"My typical school day involves research, being in the library, attending classes at McGill, and working on endless papers. I break up my day with pole training and teaching, being with friends, social justice organizing, and making art.

During the summer I have been working at a Government archive, and teaching and training with PoleFit Nation, while also working towards my CPFA certification, and training to defend my title at the Canadian Pole Fitness Championship."

Preferred song to dance/work out

"My all time favourite pole song would be Wicked Games by the Weeknd,  turn down the lights and get me a pair of pleasers!"

 I love teaching because...

"I love watching students grown and improve. Its such a a rewarding feeling to see students achieve their goals, get their split a little deeper, or their ayesha a little less shaky. In return, it is so amazing to be a part of a community, and pole has introduced me to so many wonderful friends and colleagues!"
